Lane Mountain Bunker Sands are designed and blended, starting with seven base grades of sand, specifically for bunker sand use.
Our process separates each specific size then combines them again in the right Percentage to create an interlocking finished bunker sand.
Lane Mountain is the only western bunker sand that is fully washed, kiln dried, screened and free of silt, clay and contamination.
Our dry sand screening and blending enables us to maintain consistency from day to day and year to year.
The results are crystal clear.

Quality and Consistency
|
Lane Mountain is the only western bunker sand that is fully
washed, kiln dried, screened and free of silt, clay and contamination. Our dry sand screening and blending enables us to maintain consistency from day to day and year to year.
Nothing is left to chance. It gives us the added benefit of matching the existing particle sizing in most bunker sands. If you find a bunker sand you prefer…send us a sample… and we’ll match it. No other bunker sand producer can match this capability.
Our unique blending process makes it possible to match the bunker sand to your climate. Adjustments can be made to the blends to account for high wind and high rainfall conditions.

Evolution of a Bunker Sand

Lane Mountain’s
angular bunker
sand particles
Photomicrograph |
We now bring that commitment to the golf
course industry. Lane Mountain makes the ideal
bunker sand. We have the natural creamy white
color of quartz combined with an angular
particle shape. Production capabilities allow us
to match sizing requirements and playability
characteristics of the most demanding architect,
superintendent and golfer.
At Lane Mountain we put our years of bunker sand
development to work, starting with seven base
grades of sand. With a team of experts, we
blended and worked until we achieved the results
that golfers demand. Samples were sent for
independent testing. The results were
outstanding. Lane Mountain Bunker Sands were
found to have a low tendency for “fried egg
development” and excellent drainage.
Lane Mountain Bunker Sands are designed and blended specifically for bunker sand use.
Our process separates each specific size then combines them again in the right Percentage to create an interlocking finished bunker sand. The results are crystal clear.

In-House Penetrometer Testing

“Hit and Skip”
Playability |
“Hit and Skip” bunker sand was our goal at Lane Mountain.
Even with high trajectory approach shots each golfer must have a fair lie.
We equate this to “Hit and Skip” bunker sand.
This can be accomplished in several ways..
We have an angular particle shape. Angular sand particles interlock to create a surface that is difficult for a golfball to penetrate.
At Lane Mountain we combined angular sand particles with a blend of sizes that is slightly finer than other white bunker sands to achieve a Penetrometer value at or above 2.4 kg/mm2.
Lane Mountain bunker sand sets up firm and lets the club head through.
With our angular particle shape and
particle sizing we can achieve and infiltration rate in excess of 38 inches per hour. This extended rate means longer bunker life without loss of performance or drainage.
|
Playability
|
|
Lane Mountain is low in cluster (agglomerated) grains and is a pure 99% silica sand. Particle integrity in Lane Mountain bunker sands and a high infiltration rate lead to a long and stable life.
